This week the eBay Government Relations team led a panel discussion on our latest initiative in Germany: “eBay Deine Stadt” (eBay Your City). The initiative is a platform that allows local sellers to trade on eBay. 10 cities are participating in the program launch and eBay is currently speaking with an additional 150 cities that have shown interest in the program. In the fall the three most active cities will be announced as winners in a contest that we are conducting with the German Retail Association under the patronage of the German Minister of Economy. The 10 launch cities are:
- Bad Kreuznach
- Chemnitz
- Diepholz
- Gummersbach
- Lübeck
- Moers
- Mönchengladbach
- Nürnberg
- The region of Ortenau
- Potsdam
The German Minister of Economy, Peter Altmaier, provided the keynote speech at the launch event. Panelists included a representative of the Ministry, the German Retail Association and the Managing Director of eBay Germany, Oliver Klinck. During the event we provided the panelists with several pre-recorded seller statements. Over 100 people watched the event and provided a number of great questions for the panelists.
