eBay partnered with the Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG) to host a town hall at our headquarters with CEO Devin Wenig and San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo. eBay’s VP of Global Government Relations and Public Policy Cathy Foster kicked off the event and SVLG’s President Carl Guardino moderated the discussion. SVLG is a trade association that represents over 375 Silicon Valley member companies, including eBay, on relevant public policy issues in Silicon Valley.
During the event, Devin and Mayor Liccardo discussed local issues impacting eBay’s campus and the many eBay employees living in the San Jose area. Key topics included education, housing, and transportation. Devin highlighted some of the important work eBay does in the community, including
- The Jumpstart Initiative that provides selling workshops for minority and immigrant populations looking to sell online
- Coding Camp, sponsored by eBay in collaboration with the San Jose Woman’s Club, that teaches critical technology skills to underprivileged young girls.
The town hall was also a great opportunity for eBay employees to ask questions to Devin and Mayor Liccardo. We were honored to host Mayor Liccardo for the town hall and we look forward to continuing our strong relationship with him and the City of San Jose.
