L-R Sellers Jerald Hines, Joel Sappenfield, Mac Griffiths and Norman Dollahite join Marissa Larsen Currie from eBay Government Relations in front of the Utah House of Representatives
Four eBay sellers visited the State Capitol in Salt Lake City last week to meet with elected officials to advocate for the importance of protections for small businesses with an Internet presence. These four sellers represent a range of business sizes, but all agree that a robust threshold that protects small businesses is crucial for helping businesses like theirs continue to grow. The sellers had the opportunity to meet with more than ten elected officials, including their local elected officials. The sellers were able to share their stories and to ask that businesses like theirs are protected under any legislative proposal that moves forward. The Utah legislature is currently considering an Internet sales tax proposal that would require out-of-state sellers to collect sales tax for sales to Utah buyers and the current version contains a substantial protection for small businesses selling into the state. While Congress continues to deliberate on the Internet Sales Tax Issue, eBay Inc. continues to work to protect small businesses in individual states.
