Last week, General Manager of PayPal Southeast Asia and India, Faraz Ahmed participated in the MSC Malaysia International Advisory Panel (IAP) which took place on the 8-9 October 2012 in Putrajaya, Malaysia. The IAP was established to provide expert counsel to the Malaysian Government on matters related to innovation and the Digital Malaysia programme.
The Digital Malaysia is a national programme that aims to create an ecosystem that promotes the pervasive use of ICT in all aspects of the Malaysian economy. It is underpinned by three strategic thrusts:
- Move Malaysia from being supply to demand focus
- Shift behaviours from being consumption to production centric
- Evolve from low knowledge-add to high knowledge-add
At this year’s IAP, the Malaysian Government looked to a chart new course in partnership with the panel members, one that will help Malaysia navigate the new technological landscape and help to achieve greater heights in innovation and wealth creation via the formulation of a “Digital Economy for Malaysia”.
The IAP is recognised as the highest level advisory think tank to the Prime Minister on technology and innovation matters. PayPal is honoured to be selected to be a member of the IAP and to share our industry insights in commerce and payments and to partner with the Malaysia Government to promote Digital Malaysia.
