eBay recently hosted a US election overview webinar featuring Jim Ellis, creator of the Ellis Insight Publication and Senior Political Analyst for the Business-Industry Political Action Committee. Jim is a 35-year veteran of politics at the state and national levels. He is an expert at analyzing electoral politics and reporting on trends, characteristics, and tendencies in American elections.
As a part of this engaging, non-partisan presentation, Jim provided a detailed overview of the electoral map for the Presidential race, highlighted the key states that will likely determine the winner and discussed paths to victory for each candidate. He examined polling in 2016 for these states and compared them to the latest trends. He also covered the nuances of the electoral college and how they could play a factor in the final results. Jim reviewed the Senate races that will determine which party will be in the majority after the election. Additionally, he touched on the 70+ competitive House races across the country. Jim wrapped up by looking at the changes in voting procedures such as vote-by-mail and post-election deadlines and why we may not know the results on Election Day.
If you have not yet voted, we encourage to check out our Civic Action Tool, which provides important and localized voting information, including how to file an absentee ballot, find your local polling place, and learn if your state has made any modifications to this year’s voting process. With the COVID-19 pandemic still affecting many, participating in the 2020 election may take a bit more planning and the eBay Civic Action Tool is here to help.
