The US House of Representatives has passed the bipartisan Postal Service Reform Act (HR 3076) in a 342-92 vote. The bill seeks to implement a series of reforms at the US Postal Service (USPS) that would, among other things:
- provide USPS with $50 billion in additional funding over 10 years
- require future retirees to enroll in Medicare
- establish a Postal Service Health Benefits program for USPS employees and retirees
The bill also codifies USPS’s integrated 6-day delivery network to keep mail and packages delivered together, as well as maintains efficiencies, affordable prices and universal service. The bill has now been sent to the Senate, which is expected to consider the bill in the coming weeks.
Millions of sellers across the country rely on USPS to reach buyers, and eBay supports the Postal Service Reform Act and will continue to advocate for postal delivery services that are affordable, reliable and universal.
