We have witnessed AI’s positive impact on our customers' and employees' experiences. It touches every corner of @ebay, and no other technology holds as much potential to influence every aspect of how we live, work and play.

At the same time, rapidly evolving technology like this can yield new regulations and oversight – and for good reason. We must collectively understand potential security and privacy risks for technology that can autonomously solve complex problems and guide our decision-making.

A fortnight ago, in Brussels, our CTO Mazen Rawashdeh was proud to join a large group of global Tech companies in signing the EU AI Pact that signifies our commitment to developing an AI governance strategy; mapping high-risk AI systems; and promoting AI literacy and awareness among staff. He met with  Lucilla Sioli Director EU AI Office, European Commission and the European AI Office. This is an important step as a continuation to all the efforts we are making to develop and deploy AI responsibly as part of our responsible AI journey. The signature of the pact puts eBay amongst those responsible AI deployers and developers that are doing their utmost to meet their commitments even ahead of the implementation deadline of the EU legislation; the AI Act.

Mazen pointed out “It is in our DNA to approach the use and development of new technology responsibly.”
