At eBay Inc., privacy is part of our corporate DNA. We recognize that the success of our company has been built on a foundation of consumer trust and confidence. And one of the main ways we work to earn and maintain consumer trust is by being transparent, responsible stewards of our customer’s personal information. And being responsible stewards of our customer’s personal data means working with policymakers to ensure that our nation’s laws and regulations reflect the delicate balance between consumer protection and industry innovation.
Last week, Scott Shipman, eBay’s Global Privacy Leader, (pictured, left) and Dan Oseran, eBay’s Privacy Counsel, (pictured, right) came to Washington, DC to meet with policymakers both on Capitol Hill and in the Administration. During their meetings, Scott and Dan had the opportunity to share some of the exciting new technologies and services that the eBay Inc. family has launched in recent months, like Milo, Where and PayPal Check-in, and the privacy protections that we have built in. In addition, we reaffirmed our support of comprehensive federal privacy legislation that not only ensures consumer trust and confidence in the ecommerce marketplace, but also encourages innovation and growth on the Internet.
