Earlier this month, the Centre for Internet Safety, based at the University of Canberra with the support of eBay Inc, delivered the Surf between the Flags initiative with the Federal Member for Canberra, Gai Brodtmann MP.
Freshman Republican, Ron DeSantis (R-FL), published an op-ed in the Daytona Beach News Journal on Sunday that outlined the Congressman’s concerns with the so-called Marketplace Fairness Act.

This week, during an interview with Bloomberg TV, Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said that he believes the Internet sales tax bill would impose new burdens on small businesses and that he “probably” won’t support the bill.
This week, Senator Cruz (R-TX) expressed his concerns with the Internet sales tax bill that is currently being considered by Congress and the impact that it would have on small businesses all across the country that use the Internet to reach a global market.
Last week, Congressman Jim Bridenstine (R-OK) expressed his opposition to the so-called Marketplace Fairness Act as he met with constituents back home in Oklahoma.
This month, the ABC television program “The Checkout” aired a program regarding ticketing. “The Checkout” series looks at consumer affairs issues in Australia with a satirical twist. This program examines the problem of distribution of tickets; Australia’s ticketing market; and how you can purchase tickets safely.
Brian Bieron, Senior Director of Global Public Policy at eBay Inc., made the following statement today in response to the United States Senate’s approval of the Marketplace Fairness Act: “The contentious debate in the Senate shows that a lot more work needs to be done to get the Internet sales tax issue right, including ensuring that small businesses using the Internet are protected from new burdens that harm their ability to compete and grow. eBay will continue to focus on bringing greater balance to the legislation by protecting small businesses with less than $10 million in sales or fewer than 50 employees.”
