Steven Liew, Associate General Counsel for eBay Government Relations in the Asia-Pacific region, spoke with Managing Intellectual Property last month about how brand owners can fight counterfeiters by selling on eBay.
As it has grown, eBay has worked with sellers, government officials and law enforcement agencies to help the site become a safe and clean place for companies and individuals to do business. eBay has created strict policies and procedures to ensure that the rights of brands and intellectual property owners are not compromised.
“To protect IP, it’s not about just dealing with counterfeits; it’s how to work with big brand owners and how they can sell our products on our site. We think there are good business reasons for selling on eBay, because it is another distribution channel for brand owners, and because it will help protect IP,” Liew said.
