Moving away from a world of manufactured obsolescence and looking at how we can extend the life cycle of products through - not just through reuse but also through repair and refurbishment – is one of the things we can do to reduce the amount of waste sent landfills every day. Last year alone, for example, by selling pre-loved and refurbished items, we saved 73,000 metric tons of waste and avoided 1.6 million metric tons of carbon. Our new episode of Issues in Focus covers Right to Repair laws in the EU/UK and how they could go further to make it easier for individuals and especially businesses to repair products. For example, we need to expand the range of goods to cover common electronic goods like laptops and mobile phones. Be sure to watch the episode to learn more about how we can continue to move from e-commerce to re-commerce. Also, if you’d like to join our campaign on this issue and/or learn more about public policy issues affecting e-commerce in Europe, please visit www.ebaypolicy.eu.
